This workshop strengthens scene play by focusing students to rely on their instincts. Students will be led through a 2-hour workshop featuring key exercises meant to surprise / delight their expectations. Key takeaways will be trusting themselves, painting reality through response, and reaction through hyper-listening in a fun and supportive environment. Xchel Hernandez is a recent graduate of the Second City Director’s Program where he went on to direct the Second City satirical shows, Tragical History Tour 7 It’s a Wonderful Lie. Xchel’s past written and performed work at Second City includes Borderwatch: Trouble at El Paso Pier and Total Recall Governor. He has also toured Europe with Armed Forces Entertainment and performed at many festivals across the United States including the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, Phoenix Improv Festival, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival and Hollywood Improv Festival to name a few. Xchel was a member of iOWest’s Mainstage Harold Team, Pockets, which won 2017’s team of the year. He lives in West Hollywood with his super cool wife, Joleen and cuddly cat, Tilly.
